Joshua called me yesterday afternoon. “Drew. I’m going to tell you something: we need to double down on this Pulitzer Project, man. We need to finish it up and start the memoir, because I have some exciting news—something big might become of the memoir if we can get all of this done.” If you’ve ever spoken with Joshua in any capacity you’ll know that I am, of course, paraphrasing. I’ll allow him to write an entry detailing the specifics of the memoir opportunity if he so chooses since he knows more about it than I do, but I’m very excited that an opportunity has even come about.
So, just like that, we’re back at it.
Personally, I haven’t read since April. My life has undergone a complete overhaul of priorities, ambitions, and day-to-day existence that I simply haven’t had the time to sit down and read. There’s always something to be done—work to go to, traffic on I-90 to sit in, dog to be walked, dinner to be eaten, quality time with girlfriend to be spent, trips to be taken, family affairs to attend to, friends to attend to… In all the commotion, I often wonder “When is there time for me? In the midst of the chaos of adult life, where do I find the time to attend to myself?”
So I’ve decided to sit down with my calendar and actually carve time out of my week to build a schedule around “me time.” And, of course, “me time” will be spent on the Pulitzer Project. But, that’s okay—Joshua and I set this project up for ourselves so that we could reconnect with our mutual love of reading. So, I have to remind myself, “Think of this less as a project to be finished, and more as a pastime you are coming home to.”
Yeah… That’s more like it.
If you followed us at all before, you’ll of course notice that our two blogs have been combined into one sleeker, more professional, more organized entity. This way, the two of us will be able to post separately together—two friends, eighty five books, one website. Over the course of the next week or so, I’m going to be undertaking the painstakingly boring process of importing all of our entries from our previous blogs to this blog, reformatting all of the entries to match consistency, and, of course, toying around with widgets and layout stuff.
Stay tuned, and thanks for sticking with us.
